About Bindara's History

National Horse

My passion for horses started at an early age and I was lucky to have parents who allowed my love of the sport to grow.  Bindi (Bindara) was my first pony - a wonderful 3 generation Australian Pony who had all the attributes of a great all rounder.  He was at home winning at Royal Show level, galloping around a one day event course or show jumping.  He was a great teacher and became a schoolmaster for countless others.

I worked for Prue Williams at Pirralilla for 13 years and continued my love for ponies through her wonderful stud of Welsh Section B's.  The competition years at Pirralilla were great fun with the highlight being winning the National Championship on Pirralilla Peverel in 1986.  P Primula winning Champion Welsh B Mare at Melbourne Royal was also a fantastic win.

My love for dressage was sparked with the purchase of the thoroughbred Chelmsford who I partnered from Prelim to Advanced.  Tom was a difficult horse but very talented and many lessons wtih Reiner Kramer saw that talent come to the fore.

With the purchase of our Barooga property came the opportunity for us to do some breeding and that is what we are now working on.
